- Of the nearly 50 million people affected by epilepsy worldwide, millions will suffer years of inadequate treatment because they do not communicate effectively with their physician and, correspondingly, physicians may not always ask the right questions of their patients. Recognizing this doctor/patient communications gap, UCB took a novel approach and commissioned the writing of a play, Brainstorm, to bring this health communication challenge to the attention of medical professionals in a clear, emotive way. This groundbreaking educational campaign was premiered at the World Congress of Neurology in Sydney in November 2005 to an audience of over 500 Neurologists, with subsequent performances planned for the Czech Republic and Belgium.
- The campaign was supported by an educational DVD and lecture kit for use by senior neurologists in their teaching. Media coverage crossed the globe from London to Sydney including the Weekend Australian and a front page spotlight in The Times in the UK
